
Sentience is an online literary journal from a group of Antioch University Los Angeles students and alumni. Poets, novelists, essay writers, and artists, the storytellers in the group are dedicated to supporting their peers as they tackle the beauty and chaos of the world we live in through the written word.

Editor in Chief | Helen Doremus
Helen is a native Texan writer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Ace, a high school dropout, and a creative jack-of-all-trades, Helen’s first published work was a word search celebrating the 25th anniversary of Sesame Street. She recently finished her long-deferred B.A. degree in Liberal Arts, with a Creative Writing concentration and Psychology minor, at Antioch University, Los Angeles. She also served as Managing Editor of Two Hawks Quarterly from 2018-2019. @helendoremus on Twitter and Instagram.
Fiction Editor | Lisa Croce
Lisa Croce has lived in Los Angeles since 2015. She received her B.A. and M.F.A. in Creative Writing at Antioch University. Her work can be seen in Obelus Journal and Lunch Ticket. She was the Associate Managing Web Editor at Lunch Ticket Literary Journal, is Fiction Editor at Variant Literature, and a host and writer for the new podcast LitCit.

Poetry Editor | Brianna Vigil
Brianna Vigil (aka Jasmine Felix) graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Studies and a double minor in Creative Writing and Psychology from Antioch University in 2018. She took her first poetry class at Antioch and fell in love with the craft. In addition to being a writer, she is also a photographer, actress, and model. Creative Nonfiction Editor | Kelly Curran
Kelly Curran received her B.A. in Creative Writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles, in September of 2019. She grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and currently resides in Los Angeles as a screenwriter, actress, blogger and podcast host. Art Editor | Tracey Simmons
Tracey writes from her heart, her experience, and her love for moments that help her grow, give her insight, and question her beliefs. Her intersectionality is a gift from a Higher Source, rendering her the ability to see human rather than boxed explanations. Her pronouns are she/her. She stands with everyone fighting for justice, peace, and world unity.
Editor At-Large | Nina Gibson
Co-Founder of the post-Antioch Writing Workshop with Helen Doremus, Nina completed her M.A. in Creative Writing at Loyola Marymount University in the spring of 2020.
